SALTON, INC.

Salton, Inc. designs and markets an extensive line of kitchen and home appliances, personal and beauty care products, and decorative items including a cultural icon–the George Foreman Lean, Mean, Fat-Reducing, Grilling Machine.

DO worked with Salton, Inc. to develop a new 60,000 square foot corporate headquarters at Conway Park in Lake Forest, Illinois. Key goals included flexibility for change for both people and technology and providing a committed staff with a quality work environment. Salton management also expressed an interest in feng shui, the ancient Chinese art and science of creating harmonious environments that improve health, wealth, and relationships.

DO incorporated many of the principles of feng shui into the design, highlighted by curvilinear forms and integration of design elements representing fire, metal, earth, water and wood. Also integrated were training, conferencing, classroom, multimedia presentation and video conferencing spaces that provide Salton with continuous education and marketing capabilities.

After completion in 2001, DO began working with Salton’s Toastmaster Division and completed a facility analysis and master plan in 2003.
