ROD FORSLUND
Associate
Mr. Forslund graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design. He was awarded the Janice Peterson Anderson Award in Design for the top graduating senior. He interned in Germany with Gehrmann Consult Architects. In 1989 he joined Swanke Hayden Connell Architects in Chicago, refining his programming, design, production and strong presentation skills. After joining Interior Space International (ISI) in 1992 he worked on projects with a variety of large corporate clients. As a Senior Designer, he moved to OWP/P and headed three major projects for CNA Insurance headquarters, Ameritech headquarters cafeteria, and a variety of healthcare projects.
Rod moved to New York in 1999 and designed projects for Bloomberg, the Manhattan Control Center for ConEd, new headquarters for DDB Digital in New York and Chicago, and the gothic parish hall design for the historic Trinity Church on Wall Street. He was hired by Gensler as a charter member of their Seattle Office in 2000. During his tenure with Gensler, he participated in the Gensler Workplace Task Force and designed several national account projects for Shearman & Sterling Law Firm and Deloitte Consulting.
With an interest in returning to Chicago, Rod joined Design Organization in 2001 and worked on BP western suburban projects. He left DO after a few years to work for Milo Kleinberg Design Associates in New York. However, Chicago’s siren song called him back and he reunited with Design Organization in early 2007 as an Associate in the Chicago office. Rod’s proven experience in managing a diversity of complex design projects and the ability to effectively communicate with clients, contractors, and design team members ensure that each project’s objectives are met to the satisfaction of the client.
