The Franklin Center, a multi-use office/retail, two-story structure that replaced the charred remains of a department store, was designed to complement the turn-of-the-century Victorian design prevalent in buildings of downtown Valparaiso. The architectural vocabulary of the downtown has been promoted with street level glass display windows, kick plates, recessed entrances and transoms typical of the structures built in the mid to late 1800s.
