Master Plan Renovation of Existing 8-Story Patient Tower
Saint Anthony wanted to create new interior planning and finish standards which would enhance patient care, patient image perception, as well as improve maintenance. DO approached the challenge with an inclusive design process where ideas from patients, nurses, doctors and administration were incorporated into the solution. The final master plan calls for a multi phased renovation to Ambulatory Surgery, ICU and CICU, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, the Med-Surg and patient floors with decentralized nursing cores.
Obstetrics Unit
The first phase, Obstetrics unit converting two Labor/Post Partum rooms to single LDRP's. The design collaboration between DO and Staff created rooms that reflect patient-centered care, in a hotel suite setting, with high tech hospital equipment concealed until needed. DO then worked with Tonn and Blank to create an entire Mother Baby Unit with the same warm hospitality character.
Pediatrics Unit
Not only patients, but their parents and siblings were part of the equation when consideration was given to play areas for the healthy siblings and overnight sleeping quarters for the parents as part of the Master Plan. The room design includes some soft cheerful colors and finishes with curving shapes and forms to create a more nurturing and healing environment.
Color Finish Standards
DO continues to work on ambient upgrades throughout the hospital to reinforce continuity of image, wayfinding and a healing environment. |
